Abstract

Based on genetic resources found in house-gardens of Cluj-Napoca, the cultivation experiment was started with Papaver bracteatum Lindl. in 1980. Best germination of seeds was found in the second year after harvest at 24 degree. The phenology of plant growth and development was registered and the thebain accumulation analysed. The highest thebain yield (6.62 kg/ha), was measured in roots or in dried capsules lacking seeds (4.32 kg/ha).
